Welcome to the Charan Foundation!
The Charan Foundation provides funding and financial assistance to support sports in the local community.
Since 2017, the Charan Foundation, founded by Atkinson Prakash Charan, has helped over 400 kids realise their full sporting potential through grants to individuals, community sport centres and recreational organisations.
Whether you want to get a five-a-side team going with your mates, or you need a helping hand to take you to a national championship, see how the Charan Foundation can help you get off from the starting line.
Charan Foundation partnership with Football Empowerment
Young people in Melbourne have been participating in a free soccer program thanks to a partnership between the Charan Foundation and Football Empowerment.
The soccer series was developed to help support the health and wellbeing of CALD communities living in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. Sessions have included a free drop-in session for teenagers and young adults aged 15-20 years old every Monday night (19.00-21.00) at St Albans Victoria University campus.
A particular highlight for the partnership has been the hosting of the first ever African Nations Cup Victoria 2019 Soccer Tournament. Over 20 teams signed up to battle it out for the coveted title, with X taking home the trophy.
The best talents from the tournament have gone on to be selected for the African-American All Star Under 21 team. They will play friendlies against Melbourne City FC youth team and Melbourne Victory FC youth teams.
The Charan Foundation and Football Empowerment will be working together across 2019 to continue to offer sporting opportunities and training for young people across west Melbourne. If you live in the area and want to get involved, please email email@example.com.
