Biography of Lachlan Priest, Youth Engagement Grant 2017/18 Recipient

My footballing journey began in 2007 at the age of 5 playing under 6’s for local BASL side Golden City FC. I played for Golden City for from U/6s to U/13s between 2007 and 2013. My first taste at representative football came when playing for Bendigo at Victorian Country Championships in 2011 playing U/12s, our team was a year younger than the rest but despite that we still managed a 3rd placed finish. We than returned the next year to play in our age group and finished 2nd in the Country Championships and 1st in the Regional Challenge Cup. In 2013 our representative side had a couple of good tournament winning both the Regional Challenge Cup and the Country Championships. At the end of the 2013 winter season I continued to play through summer for Loddon Mallee Lightning in the Victorian Champions League in the U/13s as a 12 year old. The 2014 brought a new challenge for me when I was accepted to play in the Victorian NPL for FC Bendigo in the U/13s. In our first season we played some very good football and as a result we earned a very hard fought 4th placed finish. 2015 brought around another new chapter in football for me because I was lucky enough to be picked to go to Coffs Harbor and represent Country Victoria at the U/14 National Championships. 2016 was a year when I only played for Bendigo City in NPL U/15s and was fortunate in being to be able play up in the U/16s and the U/18s. 2017 has been the biggest step up for me by getting the chance, after being selected in the U/16s to be able to play most of this season up in the U/20s for Bendigo City in the NPL 2. On the 19th of August this year I was able to make my senior debut in NPL 2 against Brunswick City at home.
